Chapter Fourteen

Jada stayed in her room until she calmed down. She changed her clothes, putting on a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. What she really wanted was a shower, so she could remove the smell and Brass’ touch, but she didn’t want to explain to Jinx and Maddie why she was showering at seven o’clock at night. Damn, she was being unreasonable. She doubted either of them would even ask, well, Maddie might but what was the big deal?

Looking down, she grabbed the flannel shirt she had pilfered from Brass and put it over the t-shirt, not wanting him to tell her again she was trying to get anyone’s attention, especially not his. It made her mad just putting on the garment. But right now, she needed to feel comfortable, and the damn shirt helped.

She decided she needed to come up with a plan, hell, she was constantly trying to come up with plans it seemed. Her entire life existed of going from one plan to another. The last three months were the only time she hadn’t even considered making one. Staying here with Brass, she had gotten a little too comfortable. It had been easy to let him worry about what was going to happen next and take charge of every aspect of her and Maddie’s lives. Shoot, on a daily basis, she only had to figure out what they were going to do for entertainment and what to fix for dinner. Even that was dictated by the man who went to the grocery store.

If she mentioned wanting something like mushrooms and he didn’t like them, Brass just wouldn’t bring them home. Problem solved. She didn’t say anything because it was his house, and she was just happy to be there and safe. But this mood to make plans had nothing to do with mushrooms and everything to do with the way Brass had humiliated her in the laundry room.

She wasn’t going to deny she had wanted it to happen, hell, she would have gone further if the opportunity had risen. There was a combustible attraction between the two of them that couldn’t be denied. She just wished, for once in her life, she could meet someone who truly wanted her for her. Not to teach her something, use her, or out of convenience.

She had been watching the RBMC members and their Old Ladies and it had given her hope that love like that existed. Tessa and Creed couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Link and Carri always found themselves off in some corner, just enjoying spending time alone together, talking, and Cathy and Crank, theirs was a love that shined like a beacon in the night. There was no denying the love they felt was deep, strong, and lifelong.

Jada hadn’t met Tank yet, but she had met Reagan, and she bet they would be the same way. Whisk and Addy were so cute together, he was always following her around, making sure she was comfortable, rubbing her back or stomach.
